# Create Service Item

A service item is any task that you could perform in a garage. Creating service items will allow you to create work orders more efficiently as well as provide more detail in your work orders. EKOS will allow you to track your most commonly used service items and report on technician efficiency for any service items you use. Add Service Item Details including the following:

- Name
- Description
- Service Code: A service code is short-form identifier that will allow you to quickly attach or search for this specific service item.
- Estimated Minutes: Please enter the estimated time it takes to complete this task.

Attach default VMRS Code including the category, system, and assembly codes.
